What a savior Daria was.

About The Wedding
Marianna is an engineer and Justin is a Marine who was injured in Iraq (he's almost fully recovered now, thanks to Shepherd Spinal Center!). The words they used to describe their wedding were Traditional, Personalized, Elegant (and like all couples!), Fun. With a ceremony at historic Sacred Heart and a reception at the landmark Georgian Terrace, I think these words definitely fit! Marianna chose red flowers to complement Justin's uniform for the ceremony, and the Grand Ballroom at the hotel was done in shades of blue with white linens, to bring in the Marine blue without getting too in-your-face patriotic. The flower girl's dress was Marianna's First Communion dress, altered to fit. For favors, Marianna made little jars of homemade taco seasoning, which doubled as escort cards. As for fun? The guests danced the night away as DJ Travis rocked the house! I'd say a good time was had by all.

My Favorite Detail
I was originally going to say it was the groom's cake made to look like the rifle Justin carried in Iraq. However, our baker unexpectedly went out of business on the day of the wedding and didn't deliver either the bride's or groom's cake, so I had to scramble during the wedding day to pull together some dessert. So now, I would say it was the faux cake I was able to borrow (thanks, Sweet 'n' Sinful!) and that the florist dressed up with some flowers. We ended up getting sheet cakes from Whole Foods and Krispy Kreme donuts - not quite as good as the rifle cake, but the guests certainly enjoyed them!

My Favorite Moment
The best man (who has known Justin since elementary school) mentioned in his speech that Justin hardly ever smiles. All I can say is, on this day, he had a smile on his face more often than not! I looked over once at him towards the end of the evening and he had the biggest smile I've ever seen. Just one of the little moments that make me love what I do!

Comments From The Couple
"What a savior Daria was. She was a joy to work with throughout the process. Her attention to detail and ability to listen to the vision and help execute it was second to none. The icing on the cake literally was the cake. The day of the wedding the wedding cake and grooms cake did not show. Daria was cool, calm and collected. She was able to get us an amazing display cake, sheet cakes for the venue to serve, and a cool Krispy Kreme display as a grooms cake. Only my husband and I were aware. She really did save the day! We could not have executed this event without her." ~ Marianna (bride)
