Katye & Alex

About The Wedding
Katye and Alex were referred to me by a former bride, which is always lovely. I love working with friends of my former clients, and I also adore the Atlanta Botanical Garden, so it was a treat to have two weddings there this summer. It's interesting to me how very different weddings in the same space can be, which is part of what I love about what I do. Each event is true to the couple's style and desires. Katye envisioned a bird and wood theme to go with the natural elements of the Garden. Our designer created a unique centerpiece for the estate table, which consisted of birch branches with twine connecting them, and paper lanterns hung from the twine. Katye and the designer found the most adorable felted birds to perch in many of the centerpieces. The whole design was very organic, and perfect for the couple's personalities. The day began with photos throughout Piedmont Park and the Garden. Katye and Alex had their First Look in the Noguchi playground in the Park, which is filled with very interesting sculptural swingsets and slides. We then promenaded through the Park to end up at the Botanical Garden, where the ceremony took place in the always stunning Rose Garden. Guests enjoyed the gorgeous summer evening in the Parterre Garden, complete with cornhole, and then entered Day Hall for a delectable seated dinner and wedding cake. After enjoying the band and the photo booth, guests shook kids' noisemakers as Katye and Alex made their getaway, to a Tunisian honeymoon.
My Favorite Detail
Katye unfortunately lost her mother a few years ago. First, three of her mother's good friends were there to support her, acting as Mothers of the Bride. And to honor her mom, Katye made little jars with LED candles and moss for the escort cards and favors. Each jar was tagged with a recipe that Katye's mom used to make.
My Favorite Moment
Katye and Alex did their first dance to a really fun and whimsical mix of two songs, the first of which was a twangy country song with funny lyrics. One of Katye's half-sisters did the choreography, and their movements mirrored the song lyrics. It was a great start to the party!

Comments From The Couple
"Thanks so much for making our wedding planning process as simple as it could be from afar. You're incredible at what you do and you should charge much more! Alex and I both felt that you were the best wedding investment/purchase we made by far. You rock!" ~ Katye (bride)
