About The Wedding
I was lucky enough to be able to work with Amanda and Joe for 15 months as we planned their wedding from afar (they live in Washington, DC, where Amanda is in public transit and Joe is a lawyer). They chose Sweetwater Brewing for their reception venue, since they both love beer and wanted a casual feel for their reception. The ceremony was originally supposed to take place at the Dock at Piedmont Park, but in what ended up as a stroke of luck, we had to move it to the Botanical Garden due to the Dogwood Festival. What a gorgeous day we had in the Garden! Amanda was thrilled (and moved to tears) by the sight of the hundreds of blooming tulips. Music was very important - Amanda carefully selected the songs for the ceremony, including a surprise interlude of "Butterfly Kisses" for her dad, which the harpist played as they began their processional down the aisle. After a tearful embrace, the music switched to "Here Comes the Bride," and Amanda and Joe exchanged vows in front of an arbor that was built by Joe and his dad. After some lovely photo ops in the Garden, everyone boarded the Georgia Tech Trolley (both Amanda and Joe are alums), and headed over to Sweetwater to join the party. Fox Bros. barbecue catered, and guests enjoyed selections of Sweetwater's famous beer as well as two signature drink options (his and hers). Continuing the music theme, Amanda wowed Joe (and all the guests) by singing (a capella!) a love song to him right after the toasts. The girls loved being able to kick off their heels and dance in hot pink flip flops, and everyone flocked to the photo booth, as always. Amanda and Joe departed on the trolley to a honeymoon in Istanbul.

My Favorite Detail
A perk of being at Sweetwater is that they provide personalized pint glasses for guests to use throughout the evening, and to take home as favors. Amanda had a logo that she used on all her signs and stationery, and this appeared on the glasses too.

My Favorite Moment
It really wasn't just one moment, but rather a feeling that permeated the whole day. After 15 months of planning some brides are exhausted and just want things to be over and done, but Amanda was giddy with happiness the entire day. She would literally laugh with excitement, and give little screams when she saw things (like the tulips, or their private meal at Sweetwater). Every time she did that it reminded me why I love doing this so much - seeing the joy that is present on this day that celebrates a couple's beginning together.

Comments From The Couple
"Daria was by far the most important piece of our wedding. She was the reason that our wedding came together - but more importantly - she kept me sane!! Daria met with us first a year beforehand and was so calm and collected. She walked us through every piece of the wedding and gave us advice and guidance on how to stay on budget and get the most out of our experience. Then as the wedding approached she checked in periodically to keep me on track. The last month she was highly involved in the wedding planning and was so helpful. The final week, she was the crucial piece that kept everything together and running smoothly. My family was quite impressed with her ability to learn and use everyone's names and lead a usually rowdy group of people through a rehearsal. She also keeps special circumstances like family drama in mind when she works through seating and wedding arrangements. It was quite impressive how she kept it all in line. Daria is not only good at her job, she is a joy to be around and is not high stress or high intensity. She was there taking care of everything on my wedding day!! I highly recommend!!" ~ Amanda (bride)
