Alex & Austin

About The Wedding
Alex and Austin are both nurses in Nashville, but they wanted to come home to Atlanta for their fun, laid-back wedding. Alex's sweet thank you note to me on the wedding day mentioned how I encouraged her to do photos on the wedding day with their pup. Rocky was definitely the star of the girls' getting ready room, where Alex's favorite move Frozen reigned, with action figures displayed and songs playing. She even did her hair in a braid with sparkly jewels throughout! The flowers were a beautiful wintry mix of dark purples (check out the gorgeous anemones!), whites and soft gray-greens. Luckily we did not have a wintry mix for the weather - just a little bit of rain. We'll take it! The ceremony took place at the historic Peachtree Christian Church, which boasts the largest collection of English stained glass in the United States. Alex and Austin opted to stay separate prior to the ceremony, so the first glimpse he got of her was on her regal walk up the beautiful long aisle. After their traditional vows, it was time to party! Everyone headed over to Sweetwater, where beer was the word of the day. The sign at the front of the reception entrance said, "Welcome to the Brunheober Brewfest," and that was carried through in every detail, from the souvenir pint glasses and personalized koozies, to the different beers available on tap, to the dessert table, which was loaded down with a cake with two flavors and mini cupcakes in three flavors, all beer-based; plus chocolate bourbon truffles (yes please!). Alex even had custom beer bottle caps on her garter! Everyone had a fabulous time, and the rain very kindly slowed to a trickle for Alex and Austin's bubble departure on their way to their honeymoon.
My Favorite Detail
Alex and Austin had the idea to do communion at the wedding rehearsal. (They were going to exchange personalized vows as well, but Austin got nervous at the last minute, so they ended up just exchanging them in letters on the wedding morning.) The pastor officiated the brief, but intimate and meaningful ceremony right at the end of the rehearsal, and then Alex and Austin offered the bread and wine to the family and wedding party. Many of my couples struggle with whether to include this ritual in the actual wedding ceremony, and I thought this was a lovely way to compromise.
My Favorite Moment
At the end of the reception, as everyone was making their way downstairs for the sendoff, Alex and Austin sat down by the door and had Alecia shoot a photo of them. Alex told us that two years ago, she and Austin attended an event at Sweetwater and sat in the very same place and talked about how they would get married there someday. As they sat there reliving the evening and reveling in their dream come true, I was once again reminded of the beautiful ways that things work out in life.

Comments From The Couple
"Thank you so much for helping make and organize the best wedding ever! (At least I think so.) You have been so sweet, kind and calm throughout the whole process. I knew the moment we first talked that you were perfect for our wedding (especially when you said we needed to include our dog Rocky in the wedding day pictures). It has been a true pleasure to work with you." ~ Alex (bride)
