About The Wedding
Lauren and Rick are a fun-loving couple, and wanted their wedding to reflect that. Throughout the planning process, that meant some compromising with Lauren's more traditional parents (who were heavily involved in the planning), but in the end the day was just what everyone wanted: an elegant affair that was also fun and laid back in many ways. After a lengthy venue search, the wedding ended up taking place in the Emory area, which is a special place to Lauren and Rick. The weekend kicked off with an intimate rehearsal dinner at Parker's On Ponce, followed by an after party for all of their out of town guests at the Emory Conference Center Hotel's Wisteria Lanes bowling alley, complete with a slideshow and a bowling tournament. The wedding day was a perfect Atlanta spring day - hallelujah! (Read on to see why the weather was so important...) We headed straight to the church after hair and makeup was complete (a gorgeous stone chapel - I was wishing I had known about it for my own wedding) for Lauren and Rick's First Look photos, followed by all the family photos. After a lovely ceremony officiated by Lauren's family pastor, guests headed to the Club for the reception. The festivities began on the terrace, where guests mingled to the strains of classical guitar. After their private date, Lauren and Rick made their grand entrance onto the terrace, had their first dance, and then led guests indoors to the ballroom for dinner. The showpiece of the room was the beautiful cake - one tradition that was very important to Lauren's parents. After dinner, all the guests witnessed the cake cutting, and then headed back outside to the terrace for dancing under the stars (and string lights). DJ Jordan rocked the house, and the dance floor never emptied the whole night! After a last dance to the love song of the season, 'Thinking Out Loud,' capped by a touching group hug with all the guests on the dance floor, Lauren and Rick headed off to their Hawaiian honeymoon, as guests lit sparklers.

My Favorite Detail
Lauren and Rick revived one of my favorite ways to do the guest book: a Polaroid station. As guests entered the reception, they stopped to have their photo taken, wrote a note to the couple on the back of the print, and clipped it to the custom frames Lauren and Rick had created. The display was up all night for guests to enjoy.

My Favorite Moment
Regular readers know I am fairly obsessed with enabling my couples to eat dinner privately before their receptions. Lauren and Rick did me proud: they opted to walk straight out of the church post-recessional, into their waiting Town Car, which whisked them to the Club so they could get started on their date right away. It was perfect!

Comments From The Couple
"Thank you for executing a perfect wedding. Seriously, we would not change a moment. You did an incredible job. All the preplanning meant the day itself was a breeze. Thank you for handling any issues that came up and for keeping us in the dark." ~ Lauren and Rick
