You led Jay and me in the right direction the whole time.

About The Wedding
Melissa and Jay planned a beautiful handmade wedding for an intimate group of friends and family. Although she is currently in medical school, Melissa still found time to create many personalized decor details. After a relaxing morning getting ready at her apartment, we made the 4-minute drive to the historic Inman Park Church. Its half round sanctuary was perfect for the size of the wedding, and the church director noted that the girls' marine blue gowns perfectly complemented the stained glass windows. The flowers were a mix of summer wildflowers in every color of the rainbow. and really evoked a feeling of summer. Melissa's mom had sewn two custom fabric banners to hang on either side of the altar (which would later hang in their home church in Tuscaloosa). After a sweet Dad's First Look and First Look photos for Melissa and Jay, they got married in a lovely ceremony. A highlight was their unity tradition: they had purchased a lemon tree, and each poured a jar of dirt from their parents' homes (Melissa's in Tuscaloosa, AL and Jay's in Carrollton, GA). They will plant the tree in their first home together. The other highlight was their adorable pup, Butters, who stole the show as the flower girl. Guests beat the heat with program fans, and later enjoyed the cocktail hour on the terrace of the Trolley Barn, a convenient half-block walk away from the church. Jay had made a life-size Jenga game, and they also had cornhole and ring toss to keep guests entertained while Melissa and Jay took more photos on their way from the church to the reception. One of my favorite parts of the Trolley Barn is the upper loft, where I encourage my couples to take a private moment to relax and eat dinner together. Melissa and Jay got a bird's eye view of the gorgeous decor that Melissa and her parents had created. The centerpieces were wooden boxes handmade by Melissa's dad, which held a mix of succulents and cacti. A collection of glass bottles in jewel tones surrounded each box, with brightly colored flowers and votive candles. Beneath each tablescape we placed a runner hand-sewn by Melissa's mom, each one in different fabrics and colors. Melissa told the florist she wanted everything to be a riot of all colors, and it was! Guests found their table assignment placed in individual pots planted with more succulents, which became their favors. The showpiece of the room was the dessert table, flanked by two gorgeous flower arrangements lit with fairy lights, and loaded down with a wedding cake (topped with custom-made bride and groom Star Wars figurines) as well as various donuts from Sublime Donuts. Zest provided a salad course and a delicious buffet dinner, featuring fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, a delicious vegetable quinoa salad, and a carving station. After dinner, the weather was so delightful that guests headed back to the terrace to visit and play games, but as the sun went down DJ Mike lured them all back inside to the dance floor. Soon enough, Melissa and Jay departed as guests tossed fragrant lavender buds.

My Favorite Detail
I always pay attention when the groom has something he really wants to include. Jay loved glow sticks and really wanted them for the departure. I suggested that we pass them out on the dance floor, which we did, and that really got the party going!

My Favorite Moment
With everything she had going on, Melissa had some stressful moments during the planning process, and I spent a fair amount of time talking her through her anxiety. At the end of the night, as we were downstairs helping her change into her going-away outfit, Jay thanked me wholeheartedly for helping Melissa to relax and enjoy the wedding and all her hard work. It had been the perfect day, he said! And it was!

Comments From The Couple
"Daria is the perfect wedding planner. Throughout this year long process, she guided both my husband and I to the best vendors in Atlanta and ensured nothing but perfection on our wedding day. We hired her for her "Day of" services. Instead of having a wedding planner that my (now) husband and I had never met until the rehearsal dinner we had Daria. From the start of our venture together she made it very clear she was available for any advice, consultation, etc. through phone, text, email... She was not lying! All responses were less than 24 hours later and, for text, most of the time it was within the hour. Besides our initial meeting we had three additional meetings before the rehearsal dinner and wedding to go over all the details. She would email over detailed lists and frequently text/email/call to see if any help was needed completing those lists. The three additional meetings (that were included in the price) were at least an hour each but ran up to several hours. She wanted to make sure every detail was correct and that my husband and I were happy with everything. She contacted all of the vendors that I chose and coordinated their meetings and timeline. For rehearsal she ensured that everyone knew where they should be and coordinated it efficiently so that people were not standing around unsure of what to do next. On the day of the wedding she met me at my house to make sure we were all doing okay. Her assistant was at the reception making sure all the details were in place. She accompanied us over to the church and from there made sure everyone was where they were supposed to be. The whole time she has a smile on her face, the best attitude, and the sweetest disposition. The whole day went by so quickly. Honestly as Jay and I were leaving to go to our car and she said "Bye" I was very sad. She had become such an integral part of our lives it was hard saying goodbye. She has the best vendors and is an effective communicator. Put my mind at ease. If you want a sweet, highly talented, communicator, with many connections then you have found it." ~ Melissa and Jay (bride and groom)
