About The Wedding
Aerial and Peter and I worked for 18 months to plan the perfect wedding. Aerial is very crafty, so this gave her plenty of time to bring her wedding vision to life! They always wanted an outdoor wedding, but they had trouble finding the perfect venue, until one day Aerial happened upon the Galleria Gardens and fell in love with the waterfall and the trees. From that point on, everything fell into place, with the reception at the adjacent Renaissance Waverly Hotel. True to her name, Aerial has red hair just like the Little Mermaid, and an Under The Sea color scheme took shape, with teal as the main color and black and silver as the accents. Aerial hand crafted many of the design details, from the branch/hanging candle centerpieces, to the wish tree, to all the paper goods, which she designed and printed. She kept me updated with photos of her handiwork as the months passed by, and it was always fun to see what she had thought of next! Finally, the wedding weekend arrived. Rain threatened and actually happened during the pre-ceremonyphotos, but we persisted in our positive thinking and the wedding took place outdoors in front of the fountain - the rain very kindly paused for those few minutes! After showering Aerial and Peter with lavender as they recessed, the guests walked back to the hotel, where appetizers awaited and a buffet dinner took place in the hotel's stunning Atrium. Peter is a chef, and food was a very important part of the wedding for them. Guests found the "key to their seats," an actual key that was also a bottle opener, hanging on a moss-covered board. They wrote wish cards for Aerial and Peter and hung them on the wish tree (affectionately nicknamed the Whomping Willow by Peter). After dinner, the party moved into the ballroom, where the cake, DJ, photo booth (with the below-mentioned ceremony panels reused as the backdrop) and life-size Jenga awaited. After some touching speeches, the party kicked off in earnest. I always think it's fun to move to different locations throughout the wedding day, to give guests a grand reveal and set the tone for the next part of the party. The final unique touch was a bubble machine that we placed outside (I now covet one of these!) for Aerial and Peter's grand departure on their way to their Jamaican honeymoon.

My Favorite Detail
Aerial conceived and had her dad build seven-foot-tall canvas panels painted with their tree motif from the invitations. As the music changed for Aerial's entrance, her two nephews slid the panels open for her processional down the aisle. What a fabulous entrance!

My Favorite Moment
Aerial's older sister planned a time during the getting ready party of the day when she, the moms, and the rest of the bridesmaids would each present Aerial with something old, new, borrowed or blue. This was one of the sweetest things I've ever seen - Aerial was in tears as each of these special women in her life presented her with something memorable from their time together, to wish her luck and remind her of them. For example, her sister gave Aerial a ring that her husband had given her on their first anniversary. I'd love to see this tradition continue with other brides!
