About The Wedding
My eyes! Is that that sun I see? After countless rainy weekends this fall, we were finally blessed with a sunny Saturday for Lauren and Andrew. Hallelujah! No one deserves a beautiful day more than this couple. The two of them met at work, and after Andrew's well-planned surprise proposal at the church where they would end up getting married, the planning was on! Lauren is one of the most detailed brides I have ever worked with, but she is also the nicest, most grateful person. Just a joy to work with! After a relaxing morning getting ready at the Ritz Buckhead and a sweet Dad's First Look, we headed up to Brookhaven to Our Lady of the Assumption church, where Andrew's family, who are Indian, are members. (It's a little known fact that there is a small sect of Indian Catholics.) In keeping with tradition, Andrew's first glimpse of Lauren on the wedding day was as she entered the sanctuary through the enormous carved doors. This church is only 10 years old, although for the previous 50 years they held Mass in the school's gymnasium! It's a beautiful, modern building, all glass and woodwork. Although Lauren's family is not Catholic, everyone came together to enjoy the beautiful ceremony, which included a unity candle and lovely music choices. Lauren's dad told me later that he and Lauren's mom were silently renewing their vows during the ceremony as they sat in their pew - so sweet! Afterwards, we headed over to Winn Park, a pocket park in the middle of the Ansley Park neighborhood, where Lauren and Andrew took photos with their wedding party. It was chilly, but the light was beautiful and the Scobeys got a lot of sweet shots of Lauren and Andrew. Then it was time to head to Summerour! Decor was always very important to Lauren, and she could not wait to see Bold's handiwork. We were all blown away when we saw the room! The focal point was a stunning hanging installation over the estate table, with candles on a ledge, hanging greenery, and suspended votives. Lauren and Andrew's chairs were decorated with greenery and wooden signs that said Better Together. The table arrangements overflowed with different blooms in white, cream and green, punctuated with red (my favorite!). Another hanging installation highlighted the bar, and the DJ had placed uplights all around the room. The overall effect was warmth and elegance, just what Lauren wanted! Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the front courtyard while Lauren and Andrew relaxed on their private dinner date. A Southern-style buffet dinner followed, with Bold's signature fried chicken, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, two kinds of salad and shrimp and grits. For dessert, there was wedding cake (chocolate, and carrot cake), hot apple cider, and Krispy Kreme donuts to go (labeled Glazed and Delicious from the Mr. and Mrs.). Lauren and Andrew's first date was at Krispy Kreme, so this was very appropriate! DJ Hollon kept the crowd dancing all night - even the limo driver remarked to me that "the DJ is killing it!" as he waited outside for the grand departure. Guests lit sparklers as Lauren and Andrew departed to their Cancun honeymoon.

My Favorite Detail
Early in the planning process, Lauren told me she was bringing in a unique vendor: a wedding painter. This was quite possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen! Ben Keys of Wed On Canvas arrived a few hours ahead, and began painting a canvas of the room as set-up took place around him. He continued painting throughout the evening, adding in the wedding party and Lauren and Andrew themselves as they did their first dance. Not only was this enthralling for everyone to watch, it becomes a very special keepsake for Lauren and Andrew. I wish Ben had been around when I got married! I would absolutely have hired him!

My Favorite Moment
Lauren is an only child and Andrew is the youngest of five siblings, and both of them are quite close to their parents and took pains throughout the planning process and the wedding day itself to show their gratitude. The culmination came during the last dance - I saw Andrew and Lauren dancing together, and then just moments later, they had gathered their parents to them and were dancing together with them in a circle. A sweet ending to the perfect day for this sweet couple!
