Christine & Patrick

About The Wedding
I do love a mixed heritage wedding - Christine is Korean and Patrick is French Canadian. They wanted an intimate, glamorous wedding at the Biltmore. Christine hired me at the end of November, so with just four months to hire all the vendors and get everything planned, we had to work quickly. Even with two tragic deaths in Patrick's family in the last month of planning, everything came together beautifully. Guests were welcomed into the Biltmore through a doorway draped with tulle and twinkle lights, and were drawn into the ballroom by the strains of harp music. The ceremony was short and sweet, and the show was nearly stolen by Christine and Patrick's two pups, Happy and Thor, who played the roles of flower girl and ring bearer. Afterwards, the whole vendor team threw themselves into transforming the ballroom for dinner. Christine had a vision of three estate tables running the entire length of the ballroom, with a sweetheart table on the riser area at the front, masses of hydrangeas, and crystals and fluffy rosette linens. The room was punctuated with blue uplights, and the centerpiece was the cake - not the bride's cake, although that was gorgeous, but rather the groom's cake: a bust of Darth Vader wearing a hockey jersey! Patrick was surprised and delighted when he saw it! Guests enjoyed a seated dinner with a choice of beef, chicken or halibut, and then availed themselves of cake and crepes from the chef-attended dessert station before hitting the dance floor. The one snag in the day: Christine and Patrick had planned to depart in a vintage car, but due to mechanical problems with the vehicle, I had to call them an Uber car instead. They snuck out quietly while the party wound down inside, and were off to their honeymoon in paradise: two weeks in Barbados (one of my favorite places on earth!).
My Favorite Detail
Both of the pups wore wedding clothes, and Happy's dress was custom made to mirror Christine's wedding gown!
My Favorite Moment
The stress of the planning was taking its toll during the family photos, but once Christine and Patrick got to their private photos on the back balcony, it was magical to watch the stress melt away and the two of them become more attuned to each other. It was interesting to watch the process, and gratifying to see them really relax and start to enjoy the beautiful day!
