About The Wedding
As Abby was weeks away from graduating with a nursing degree, she and her stepmom Georgann contacted me a few months out from the wedding, needing some help finalizing their vendor choices and wrapping up the wedding details. I really enjoyed the first challenge they needed help with: figuring out how to orient the ceremony to allow the band to have enough time to get set up prior to the ceremony. I recommended that we rethink the traditional ceremony set-up at the end of the ballroom, and moved it to the side so that there were four sections of chairs all facing the couple. Abby got the backdrop she wanted (the beautiful windows) and the band got their set-up time - win/win! From there on, everything fell into place. The wedding day was hot but beautiful, as we gathered at the Biltmore for First Look photos and preparations for the ceremony. The band's guitarist and keyboardist provided amazingly beautiful music for the processional and recessional - the highlight was the Hawaiian version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow for Abby's entrance. Afterwards, the room was transformed for dinner with beautiful flowers in tones of white and peach, and linens in silver and mint. In keeping with the theme, we handed out mint favors ("Mint To Be") to the guests after the Southern stations dinner of fried chicken, mac and cheese, salad and sliders. After we heard some lovely toasts and cut the cake, the Platinum Band hit the stage and kept the guests dancing for over two hours. I love how people are always so excited to get glowsticks on the dance floor - it adds such a fun element to the dancing! At the end, guests used the glowsticks to wave Abby and Dave off on their grand departure.

My Favorite Detail
Georgann, Abby's stepmom, wanted to do something to honor Abby's late mother, without being ostentatious about it. After some brainstorming, we came up with the idea to attach a charm to Abby's bouquet. Georgann found one that said simply "Mom," and presented it to Abby before the ceremony began. It was a sweet moment between them and a lovely memento for Abby.

My Favorite Moment
Storms threatened us during the post-ceremony photos, and Justin was able to get some gorgeous shots of Abby's veil blowing in the wind and a gale of crape myrtle blooms swirling around them. It was so cool to stand back and watch that happening! (Of course, it would have been less cool if it actually rained on us, but luckily we somehow managed to avoid it!)
