About The Wedding
Laura knew that she would need a wedding planner's help for the entire planning process - as a lawyer and a Type A person, she wanted everything to be just right; and as she and Chris had recently moved to Atlanta, she didn't know the area very well. However, one thing she said to me during our initial meeting really stood out: they didn't want the "stuff to overwhelm the marriage." In other words, she wanted to focus on planning the marriage, not the wedding. I love that! Every choice we made and task that we did kept that concept in mind, from spending a lot of time choosing just the right church (which eventually became their new church home), to pre-marital counseling, to an emphasis on the ceremony, music and program details towards the end.

The wedding day was a beautiful early summer day. After a relaxing morning getting ready at the hotel, we all met at the charming Emory-area church for the lovely, personalized ceremony. We then traveled back to the hotel, and guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the terrace. Laura had chosen bright, happy colors - mainly fuchsia and other shades of red-pink and purple, with gold accents, and the ballroom looked beautiful.

A highlight for the guests was Chris's home-brewed beer favors - a peach blend that was perfect to honor their Georgia home. After a delicious seated dinner, Laura and Chris cut the cake and then the dance floor quickly filled for the celebration! The last dance was one of my favorite kinds, where the guests spontaneously surrounded the couple as they danced in the middle of the circle. I handed out the bubbles right on the dance floor, and Laura and Chris walked around the circle hugging everyone as the bubbles filled the air, and then slipped out the door. Beautiful!

My Favorite Detail
Laura had been taking belly dancing classes in the months leading up to the wedding, and she found it so fun and relaxing, she arranged for her teacher to come and teach a class for her and the bridesmaids on the morning of the rehearsal day. They were all talking about it the next day!

My Favorite Moment
A huge part of any wedding planner's job is fixing wardrobe issues. We had a mystery to solve for Laura - her beautiful mermaid-style gown kept twisting on her body every time she walked - to the point that the sweetheart neckline would end up almost at her armpit! After fixing it at least 6-7 times (I literally had to unzip her out of it and pull the whole thing down and then up again) and trying to calm her down, I finally realized it was the shiny fabric of her Spanx that was causing the problem. That's an easy fix - get rid of those Spanx! We did just that in their hotel room after we returned from the ceremony, and Laura breathed a huge sigh of relief and proceeded to enjoy the reception in comfort! As a funny side note, Chris was both fascinated and a little disturbed to watch the redressing process. I told him he was one of the few guys privy to these women's secrets!

Comments From The Couple
"Daria understands her clients impeccably, and I truly valued her attention to detail and responsiveness, as well as her supportive attitude and fantastic communication skills. I was actually able to relax and enjoy the process of getting married, and focus on sharing the wonderful event with my husband, family, and friends, instead of stressing out about details or worrying that I had forgotten something. Her network of vendors were excellent to work with, both professionally and personally, and understood my vision for the wedding while still balancing that vision with my budget. It was a wonderful experience and an amazing event!" ~ Laura (bride)
