To Match or Not To Match? That Is The Question.

Bridesmaid.

The word conjures up hundreds of different pictures in our minds. If you have ever been a bridesmaid, you have either have worn a fantastic dress or one you would like to burn. If you have never been a bridesmaid, go watch 27 Dresses and you will know what we are talking about. Every bride has a different vision for how her bridesmaids will look, which often leads to the question:

Q: Do my bridesmaids have to match?

A: Absolutely not! And here is why…

No matter how many times we say this, it still rings true. It is YOUR wedding. However, there are a few things you may want to consider:

Matching your bridesmaids’ dresses offers a more formal look for your wedding. If you are planning a formal affair, then matching dresses for your girls is one way to promote this look.

If you decide to mismatch your bridesmaids’ attire, stick to the same color palette, or the same style of dress (short, long, etc.). When these rules are applied, everyone looks like they go together without matching exactly.

OR if you want the bridesmaids to be able to express themselves without your input, go for it. This means that you and your partner are extremely laid back and want everyone to feel comfortable. As Kalli said in our last post, “Make your wedding personal to you and representative of your relationship.”

With so many options for bridesmaid’s dresses, you really can’t go wrong.
