Fall In Maine: Alex and Jesse’s Wedding Story

The wedding story of Alex and Jesse, who were married October 7, 2017, at the family barn in Bowdoinham, Maine. An intimate Quaker-style ceremony followed by a delicious family brunch on a brilliant autumn day!

This weekend was so lovely for our family. ~ Laura (MOG)

About The Wedding

I love this wedding for many reasons, but most of all because it represents the beginning of the expanded offerings of Circle of Love Weddings. First of all, Maine! It was such a gorgeous fall day, the leaves were turning, the breeze was blowing, the sun was shining.

Sometimes tiny weddings are the most fun – just the closest family and friends. Alex and Jesse live in LA, and Alex’s mom is one of my dear friends from Atlanta. I was thrilled to help when she asked me to assist them with the planning, and when it turned out they needed an officiant too, I was happy to fill that role as well!

We had a great time creating the ceremony (via several phone calls) to include Quaker and agnostic elements. The wedding took place at Jesse’s uncle’s barn, which is beautifully renovated and is available through AirBnB (Maine Magic). Everyone gathered in the upstairs loft, where chairs were set in a circle around an altar with Buddhist elements (courtesy of Jesse’s family’s travels overseas) and seasonal local flowers (courtesy of my talented friend, Alex’s mom Laura!).

After Alex and Jesse exchanged heartfelt vows and rings, we all went outside for a photo session, and then sat down to a delicious family-style brunch. Instead of a cake, Alex and Jesse shared bites of an apple cider donut. Simple, sweet and meaningful – just the way they wanted it!

My Favorite Detail

The custom bloody mary bar was pretty special! Beautifully presented and quite popular during the photo session.

My Favorite Moment

The moment I pronounced Alex and Jesse – I am officially an officiant!
A close second – Alex and Jesse and I taking a joyful, silly photo together after the ceremony.

I love all of my clients, but I must say, when the client is also a dear friend, the wedding becomes extra special. It was absolutely my honor to marry Alex and Jesse, and to be enfolded into their beautiful families for this beautiful event. This is the joy of weddings. Thank you, Alex and Jesse! Wishing you a lifetime of love!
