What an honor it was to officiate at Clarissa and Tiffani’s wedding in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park this past Saturday! 💍💍
I love so many things about this beautiful couple and their tiny wedding (check out the full post on the blog), but what I really want to say right now is this:
I’m beyond grateful for Clarissa and Tiffani, because in addition to the normal joy of performing a wedding, they allowed me to put into action the intentions of Circle of Love Weddings:

Today my parents would have been married 55 years.

Today my parents would have been married 55 years. (My dad passed away in 1995.) Isn’t this the cutest picture?

And as I prepare for K&J’s wedding tonight, I am struck once again by the truth and beauty that Wendy Egyoku Nakao writes of in her poem, The Blessings of Unknowing. "On this day, two hearts beat as one. Who can know how many other hearts this joins? Who can know how far this love will flow? These are the blessings of Unknowing."

Who can know how many millions of just-perfect moments converged to bring all of us right where we are, right now? Being married today isn’t at all what my beautiful couple planned on, but it’s happening, and it’s going to be just perfect. How do we know that it wasn’t meant to be just like this for them all along?
Just like things aligned perfectly in my parents’ lives for me to be born just when I was, to be here today in Atlanta to coordinate their wedding on this anniversary day. For my sister @jacelynreed to be born just when she was, and for her to birth their six beautiful children, including @kate_reed24.
Who can know how far Love will flow, in all directions? 💫
These are the blessings of unknowing. And this is the joy of weddings: celebrating Love.

It’s arts and crafts day in the Circle of Love Weddings office (aka the kitchen)! 😂
Question of the day: what’s the safest way to send the couple off in style while not spreading germs? (Hint: it’s not blowing bubbles…)
Answer: Tossing rose petals! 🌹But from individual cones, not a communal bowl. Hence the arts and crafts day! (Bonus: the cones could double as party hats!)

I love this because it reminds me of all the wonderful showers and small weddings I did back in the day... and I’m so enjoying the tiny weddings of 2020, with all their wonderful personalized details. When an event is pared down to the basics, there’s lots of room for creativity!

There’s no place like the yoga mat to take a dee

There’s no place like the yoga mat to take a deep look inside yourself, to breathe love in and out, to face the shadow within head on, and to do the work we all need to do.

On this day of reflection, may I humbly suggest hopping on the yoga mat with @adrienelouise (or any of the many other amazing teachers out there!). See what happens.

And then, don’t stop after one day of reflection. Keep looking, keep listening, keep working, and keep breathing. Keep finding the love, and keep breathing it in and out.
We have the power within our hearts to transform. And a duty to DO IT.
